Products marketed as tattoo removal cream intend to fade or remove a tattoo through the use of an over the counter topical lotion, cream, or ointment. Without the need for any medical supervision or consultation, tattoo removal cream products offer the consumer the ability to remove a tattoo they no longer want in the privacy of their own home. It also allows consumers to do so at a fraction of the cost of the more established, traditional methods, such as laser tattoo removal.
Products such as Tat B Gone and Wrecking Balm are very popular tattoo removal creams. Commonly sold as “Removal or Fade Kits”, these products contain 2 or 3 different lotions applied to the skin. Buyers must apply the ointments repeatedly, generally speaking for a number of months. As such, the products are sold in 1 month, 2 month, 3 month, and so on, supply amounts.
While many consumers see valid results of their own usage of tattoo removal products like this, tattoo removal creams have come under increasing suspicion by certain consumer protection claims who feel some of their claims may be unfounded or exaggerated.
