Many organizations have implemented identification badges into the workplace because of increased security concerns in recent times. One of the requirements that employers often make is that these badges need to be displayed at all times. This leads to a search for the most effective badge display accessories.
One of these accessories is the plastic name badge holder. This item is commonly clipped or pinned to the chest area of a shirt. This method is great for display of an id badge, but it can really limit the usability of the badge. If your id badge doubles as a security card, a badge holder pinned to the clothing is going to make using the card very difficult, especially if use of the card is needed many times per day. If the badge is only used for identification purposes, a plain badge holder can work well.
One item that can accomplish both display and allow for easy use of the badge is an id card holder lanyard. A lanyard is normally worn around the neck and contains a clip that can be used to attach an id card. The id card hangs at the end of the lanyard normally between the chest and stomach areas. It’s an effective display mechanism, but it also gives the wearer access to the id badge at all times.
Finally, a retractable reel can be used for maximum flexibility of an id card. Attached to the clothing via a clip, a retractable holder contains a cord that attaches to the id badge. This cord extends when you pull on the id card and retracts automatically when the card is released. This accessory can be especially handy when encountering multiple security swipe checkpoints during the day. A retractable holder gives a nice display of a badge as well.
All three of these items work well for displaying an id badge, but the lanyard and retractable reel are more convenient for id card use when there are security checkpoints in the workplace.
