There is a certain romance that is associated with french doors that just cannot be found in any other style of door. Originally from France (of course), these doors were used in all sorts of homes from the small workers cottages to the majestic castles and everything in between. Nowadays, they are most popular on patios, and have infiltrated the western world to such a degree that they have surpassed all other door types.
The only downside to the traditional french door is that you need enough space for them to swing open either side of your door cavity, and in many cases these cavities are located in the corner, making this setup impossible. If you are lucky enough to be able to install french doors, make sure that you get a decent set of french door blinds to protect them from the harsh summer sun.
