“What’s the difference between a bar stool and a kitchen counter stool?” is question I am often asked in the process of my day as a salesman a furniture store and I can tell you, its a question I’m fed up answering. So hear is the answer here so that you are one less person I have to waste my breath on when you come in to my store.
The truth of the matter is the difference between the two terms depends on who you talk to. For some people the bar stool will mean a stool that was constructed with the sole purpose of being used in a commercial environment whereas a counter stool is a more light-weight device whose place is in the home. My opinion is that there is no difference at all between the two terms, if you are in the market for a seat to go under your breakfast bar then both the bar stool and the counter stool should be considered in your quest to find the best bit of furniture for your needs.
