Interview for CNA Work

Doing well in an interview for CNA work is essential to getting hired. If you have a great resume and great marks, that is simply not enough in today’s day and age. There is simply too much competition out there. You have to ‘wow’ the interviewer with your personality and skills.

As previously mentioned, one of the keys to finding CNA work is preparing yourself for the interview questions. Here are some ideas to get you in the right frame of mind. An ideal CNA worker would be professional, courteous, personable, show strength of character, be empathetic, have conviction, and be confident. These are just a few traits that are desirable in a CNA worker. You can probably add many more to this list if you think on it a little.

Next we will discuss a few questions that are typical to receive in a CNA work interview. The first one would be where do you see yourself in 5 years? It could even be 10 years or another time frame. Another question could be surrounding asking you how you would react in a difficult situation whereby a patient or their family were pressuring you to react in a particular way (going against what you have been instructed). Another question could possibly be asking you how you would react if you were being verbally assaulted by a patient. Finally another question that you may hear is how well do you work in a team environment?

An additional way to show some of the personality traits that are desired in CNA work, is to regularly perform volunteer work. Whether it be in a hospital setting or a nursing home, if you are a new graduate volunteer work is a great way to gain on-the-job experience. Not only that but you will be showing everyone that you are serious in becoming a CNA and also are a caring individual.

As you can see, preparing yourself for a CNA job interview does require some thought and organization. Think about the points we’ve described above and you should be well on your way to finding CNA work in an institution that you are happy with.
