How do you choose the best golf clubs equipment for your game? This is very important, because there are many different clubs for different ability levels. And since there are so many brands to choose from, it can be confusing deciding which to get.
Do you need the best brand?
Not unless you are shooting in the 70s consistently. In reality, the difference between a Titleist and a brand you have never heard of is not noticeable unless you are a low handicapper.
So how do you pick the right brand for you?
Obviously one strategy is to go to the range and test them out. You can get plenty of demos there. Make sure to test ones with a shaft that matches your swing speed.
How do you tell?
Generally, if you swing any slower than 100 miles an hour, the flexible shafts are probably the ones you should get. If your swing speed is over 100 mph, then go with the stiff shaft.
What clubs should you carry?
In addition to the brand, you need to determine the ratio of woods to wedges in your bag. This again depends on your current handicap.
Most players shooting the 80s, for instance, have three or even four wedges and just two woods. This is because they are more proficient with the long irons and don’t need the lofted woods.
However, somebody shooting the eighties and low nineties might have three woods because higher lofted woods are easier to hit than the longer irons. If you cannot break 100, you will probably want four woods.
And you can substitute the woods for rescue clubs, which are rising in popularity. Many of them have the same loft as a three or four iron, but are much easier to hit.
The bottom line is, your choice of clubs will entirely depend on your ability level. You need to be realistic about your game and make your golf clubs equipment choices based on that.
