The only difference in pool umbrellas versus other types is really just the fact that you are using them poolside. To be fair, some umbrellas that are classified as pool styles may be made of more water resistant fabrics or materials that resist the sun’s harsh rays and the effects of water. An iron base and pole may be more susceptible to rust, while wood or aluminum will be better suited to water environments.
Now, there are other styles of outdoor umbrella that can be used by the pool as well. Some of these are cantilever or offset varieties of umbrellas. These are great because they provide for good shade and lots of room beneath the canopy of your umbrella. While you sit beneath this type of pool umbrella, you don’t need to worry about the umbrella stand or pole getting in the way of your shaded space.
