When space is limited in a backyard or garden, one must look for maximize the functionality of the furniture and decor they currently have. Umbrellas make for great light sources because of their positioning. They sit quite high up in the air, allowing any attached light to shine onto the area underneath them. Umbrella garden lighting can be installed with relative ease. Some umbrellas even come with the lights already built in. If you are one of many whom already have an umbrella and aren’t up for purchasing a pre-lit one, don’t worry. Aftermarket lights can be installed onto just about any umbrella.

The most commonly used umbrella light consists of a small module which grasps the central umbrella pole. From this point, the light can shine in all directions below. The light coverage can be altered by moving the fixture to different areas of the pole. Another type of light has many multi-light strings which each attach to a rub on the umbrella canopy. These lights are less functional and more decorative, lending to a more surreal feel.
To avoid routing an unsightly electrical cord from the umbrella to the wall, you can use one of the many solar powered umbrella lights that are available.
