For so many people entering their “golden years” or for those who are just simply stuck in their ways, modern advances in technology, culture, and even personal hygiene may in many cases seem overwhelming or unnecessary. For example, for someone who grew up accustomed to paper newspapers and hardbound books, the idea of reading a book off a computer screen might seem ludicrous, as might the idea of fancy procedures like laser facial hair removal, when old standby methods such as shaving with a blade and lather have always worked just fine. While their reluctance is understandable – maybe even condonable – there is no denying that this sort of attitude and posture can have the effect of limiting an individual. For all these folks know, facial hair removal by laser or e-books might just be the best things since sliced bread but alas, they will never enjoy what these modern innovations have to offer.
