Cabin Tents – Camping With Your Family

If you love to go camping with your family, then cabin tents are meant for you. These tents are also known as family tents. Their design is simple with enough headroom. Due to the height at the center you can stand straight properly inside. Some of the tents have center height of more than 8 feet. The design of the tents varies according to your preferences. You can add a lot of special features according to your requirements. The basic tent may have a single room or have partitions for creating a multi-room effect. The tents also come with external awnings to provide extra space. Fully screened rooms, large windows, porches with screens and protection from mosquitoes are some of the usual features.

Camping cabin tents are usually found in two types. They are the 3 pole tress type and 4 pole umbrella type. The first type has 3 sections of poles which travel up, down and across. They however do not cross each other at any place. This design is strong and durable and can withstand any type of strong wind and heavy loads. The poles are placed in such a way that they cross from side to side or front to back. The front to back type is more common and has the tall center. The entrance is shorter and may require you to stoop while entering inside. The pole in the center will also keep you moving around it.

The umbrella type has four corners. The tent is hung from a free standing frame. Such tents are easy to install but lack stability.  The tents can be installed easily.  The ground has to be clean and you will want to make sure that there is no debris where you erect the tent because it could damage the floor. Tents are usually made of materials like nylon, polyester and canvas with canvas being the most popular choice.

Canvas cabin tents are expensive when compared to other types of materials. You can find these tents in various sizes and patterns. You can choose the size according to the number of people going to use the tent. Some of the well known manufacturers of these tents include Coleman, Ozark, Wenzel and Eureka. The Coleman Weathermaster 2 room tent is about 17 x 9 feet and can sleep about 6-8 people. The American Heritage Weathermaster can sleep about 6-7 people and is sized about 12 x 9 feet. Both are very large tents that should easily be able to sleep your entire family and have extra space for all of your camping gear.
